Happily, the dialogue is refreshingly free of clichés, and director Søren Kragh-Jacobsen -- little more than a teenager himself at the time -- gets fine performances from a mostly amateur cast. Birger Larsen, who made his screen debut here as one of the kids, would later direct the popular children\'s film Lad Isbjørnene Danse.$
