An aquamarine gemstone, the Mermaid�s Scale, appears in a secret, underground auction. Lupin is coerced by the gem�s owner to steal it. He quickly discovers that the stone is a forgery and the real Mermaid�s Scale is part of an unsolved riddle that leads to transcending mortality.
