Laredo: Reese "saves" three con artists from robbers and Don Miguel's "dying" wish is that Reese have 10% of his estate. It turns out the estate is the entire city of Laredo and the surrounding county, which Don Carlos de Laredo and his "sister" Dona Dolores are claiming the right to with a recently discovered Mexican land grant. Don Carlos makes arrangements for the former landowners to pay to keep their land while Reese spends time with Dona Dolores. His new role as a gentleman prompts Chad and Joe to put Reese through a Pollyanna transformation. Captain Parmalee suspects something is wrong and secretly "borrows" the land grant to have it checked out.
