Little House on the Prairie: Sarah is more than a little baffled when her estranged father Elliot arrives in Walnut Grove for a visit. Upon learning that her mother apparently died from sudden influenza, Sarah is devastated--but her life does not slow down enough for her to grieve, and in fact, Elliot soon begins controlling his daughter's world on a regular basis. It soon becomes evident that both John and Sarah have strained relationships with the man, and despite their firm refusals, Elliot fiercely attempts to move his daughter and her family back to New York with him. Later, when he attempts to transform her newspaper into one like his own in the big city (slanderous gossip and all), the one who suffers the most is a recovering alcoholic in Walnut Grove. Although the need to stand up to her father becomes increasingly obvious to Sarah, it is something that could sever all ties between the two.
