Seconds from Disaster: The Gare de Lyon is a major railway station in Paris, France. It was the site of a disaster on the evening of June 27, 1988 when an out-of-control train careered into the back of a packed stationary commuter train on the platform. Fifty-six people died in what, at the time, was the worst disaster in French railway history. What caused this to happen?
