Seconds from Disaster: On March 6, 1987, the car and passenger ferry known as Herald of Free Enterprise leaves Zeebrugge, Belgium, for Dover. Within twenty minutes the ship capsized and 193 people perished in the UK's worst maritime accident since the Titanic. We examine how this catastrophe unfolded and look at the contributing factors which came to light in the ensuing investigation.
