Peter Gunn: Cliffie Thomas hires Pete to protect him from recently convicted and even more recently escaped Al Brenners. Cliffie was blinded 10 years ago by Brenners and Vic Stringer. The police think Brenners left town, but Cliffie knows otherwise because he knows Stringer has visited his newsstand a couple times. Cliffie figures Brenners and Stringer will kill him because wherever Stringer is, Brenners can't be far away. Peter Gunn is Cliffie's key to remaining alive
