Rise of the Planet o

$Watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes 0123movies-Rise of the Planet of the Apes can almost be seen as an ad protesting experimentation on animals, apes in particular. Scientists use apes to test experimental drugs, one drug in particular to try and cure Alzheimer\'s. We watch as certain apes develop higher brain functioning, rivaling that of humans, this is how we meet our story\'s hero, Caesar. We go from the sadness of seeing Caesar\'s mother dying trying to protect him from the scientists, to Caesar growing up as actor James Franco\'s surrogate son, but when Caesar tries to protect his family by attacking another human, Caesar is taken away to an ape sanctuary. Throughout all of this, we feel Caesar\'s joy as he first climbs a Redwood tree, and we feel his anger and sadness when he is left in a cage by his surrogate father, lending emotional plausibility to Caesar becoming embittered and rising to lead the apes in a revolt against the humans, rioting across San Francisco. What is more impressive is that not a single real ape was in this movie. All of the apes were portrayed by actors in motion capture suits, with their ape exteriors being added on in post production via CGI. The effects work is expertly woven into the story by WETA digital, and there are moments within the movie that even a seasoned eye can barely tell the difference between CGI trickery and a real ape on Animal Planet. This is just a pure spectacle that only a blockbuster can deliver. Tight storytelling, high emotion, and marvelous action, wrapped up into a wonderfully written, solidly directed, immaculate technical showcase.$

The Beaver (2011)

$Watch The Beaver 0123movies-One of the best actresses of her generation, Jodie Foster makes that rare return to the director\'s chair to helm The Beaver, which had actually gained more traction for its lead actor Mel Gibson having self destructed the last several months in what has been painted as a disastrous personal life with drunken rants and threats turned into physical violence. There\'s something of a cruel irony in all of this, since Mel\'s character in The Beaver is a manic depressive, who created this imaginary, titular character out of a puppet to take over the thought and motor functions of his life, in an effort to try and be normal, only for this make belief to slowly consume him. Written by Kyle Killen, The Beaver has two main narrative threads running in the story that revolves around the Black family, where little kid Henry (Riley Thomas Stewart) has to endure a horrid, bullied time in school that got glossed over soon enough, mom Meredith (Jodie Foster herself) having to finally find the strength to boot husband Walter (Mel Gibson) out of the house before his blasé negativity permeates to everyone around him, and oldest kid Porter (Anton Yelchin) who coasts through his life being extremely embarrassed with his estranged father, as well as making a covert reputation for himself in school as the go-to person for essay assignments to be done for a fee, written so well since they\'re passed off convincingly as someone else\'s own work, which would be what I felt as someone who is extremely sensitive, expressive and emphatic.$

Midnight in Paris (2

$Watch Midnight in Paris 0123movies-Gil and Inez travel to Paris as a tag-along vacation on her parents\' business trip. Gil is a struggling writer and falls in love with the city and thinks they should move there after they get married, but Inez does not share his romantic notions of the city or the idea that the 1920s was the golden age. When Inez goes off dancing with her friends, Gil takes a walk at midnight and discovers what could be the ultimate source of inspiration for writing. Gil\'s daily walks at midnight in Paris could take him closer to the heart of the city but further from the woman he\'s about to marry.$

Prom (2011)

$Watch Prom 0123movies-A group of teenagers get ready for their high school prom. So what else is there to say about this movie? Well the acting is not bad, and although young, these actors are already showing potential for being good actors. However, most audience members may be caught up in the dramatic actions these teens do in the movie. However, I believe the teenage girls will be focused more on the sulky, pouty, and rebel nature of the main dude and will be making various sounds that represent their attraction to the man. At least that was what I saw when I saw this movie. Another thing is that the soundtrack is very mainstream radio with songs from All Star Weekend, Taio Cruz, and yes even Katy Perry being played throughout the movie. It adds zest to the film and makes one feel like they are in prom, but if you\'re not a fan of mainstream radio then you will not enjoy it. The camera work is nice too, and the setting does actually feel like a high school setting so that\'s another thing I find positive. However this movie was also like being in high school musical, except get rid of the singing and dancing and instead replace it with Twilight qualities.$

The Smurfs (2011)

It\'s funny, cute, silly, awesome, and Smurftastic! I\'ve never watched the classic cartoon series, so I couldn\'t compare it. During the Blue Moon Festival, an evil but wacky wizard named Gargamel chases Papa, Clumsy, Brainy, Grouchy, Gutsy, and Smurfette into a vortex and transports them to New York City. (It\'s a classic fish-out-of-water story) They seek refuge with Patrick and Grace Winslow, a couple who are expecting a baby. The Smurfs drive Patrick crazy and almost cost him his job. They try to bring the vortex back before Gargamel captures them. This is definitely a movie I would see again and again. I highly recommend THE SMURFS!!!$

If this summer movie season where the Olympics, I\'d say Cap took the gold. First Class grabbed the silver and Thor finished fractions out of first with the bronze. Pirates, Hangover 2, Super 8 and Transformers finished out of the money and Green Lantern came up lame and didn\'t even finish the race. It\'s been a great summer. Everyone might as well label it correctly… a MARVELous summer! I just loved Captain America. I thought it was smart and the impressive cast really delivered! This movie works on so many levels and makes you draw on just about all of your emotions. I don\'t remember when I enjoyed a movie this much!$

Bad Teacher (2011)

There\'s good chemistry between the actors and the characters are all amusing but in different ways. Cameron Diaz fits perfectly as the awful teacher and Jason Segel is amazing as usual. The supporting cast, especially Phyllis Smith and Thomas Lennon, is pitch-perfect and Justin Timberlake shows that he is more than just a pretty face. It\'s an easy and entertaining film that I\'d be happy to watch again. Yes, it\'s unrealistic at times and a little predictable but how many movies these days aren\'t? If you like comedies such as The Hangover, Eurotrip, Forgetting Sarah Marshall or anything by Judd Apatow you\'ll probably enjoy this. Now go see it!$
